Features

Leave and payroll, configured per organisation

One workspace for HR, managers, and employees: policies, balances, approvals, and — when you enable it — monthly payroll with loss of pay from unpaid leave.

What you get

  • Leave types & balances

Yearly allocations, half day, and short leave.

  • Approvals that match you

Admin, manager, or manager then admin.

  • Today board & calendar

Who is working, on leave, or off — not check-in.

  • Optional payroll with LOP

From approved unpaid leave, plus branded slips.

Leave

Policy, requests, and who is in today

Built for Indian office calendars: Sundays off, configurable Saturdays, organisation holidays, and named approvers — not a spreadsheet inbox.

  • Leave types and yearly balances

Admins define annual, sick, and custom types — including whether a type is paid, and whether half-day or short leave is allowed. Each employee gets a yearly allocation. Remaining balance is that allocation minus paid approved leave (and leave waiting to be cancelled). There is no monthly accrual engine.

  • Apply with overlap and off-day checks

Employees and managers apply for a full day, first or second half, or a short leave with start and end times. The server blocks overlaps, Sundays, organisation holidays, and Saturdays when your Saturday-off mode says they are off (none, all, or alternate 2nd and 4th).

  • Approvals that match how you work

Choose Admin only, Manager only, or Manager then Admin. Approvers can approve as paid or unpaid. Unpaid approved leave does not consume paid allocation; it does feed loss-of-pay when payroll is on. Statuses cover draft, pending, approved, rejected, cancel pending, and cancelled.

  • Calendar, holidays, and Today

A shared calendar shows leave and holidays. The Today board lists active managers and employees as Working, On leave, or Off — from approved leave, Sundays, Saturday-off, and holidays. It is not check-in, and not office versus WFH. Department tabs appear when you have more than one department.

Salary & Payroll

Optional monthly payroll, tied to leave

Included on Starter and Growth. Free workspaces stay leave-only until Super Admin upgrades the plan. See pricing for what each plan includes.

  • Salary structure per employee

When Salary & Payroll is enabled, admins set Basic, HRA, and other earnings, plus an optional other deduction. Optional identity fields (employee code, PAN, UAN, ESI, bank) can appear on payslips.

  • Monthly runs with LOP

Generate a draft for a month, review per-employee payable days and LOP, then finalize. LOP days are approved unpaid leave in that payable window — not unapproved absence. Join and last-working-day dates pro-rate payable days.

  • Branded payslip PDFs

Pick Classic, Minimal, or Corporate. Employees print or save as PDF from the browser. The slip uses your logo, colours, font, and office address when you have added one. Employer name and address are frozen on the run so later branding edits do not rewrite history.

  • What payroll does not do

Leafwage does not calculate or file EPF, ESI, or TDS, does not push bank payouts, and does not import biometric attendance. Keep your statutory filings with your accountant.

Roles

Everyone sees what they should

Employees see themselves. Managers see their reports. Org admins see their tenant. Super Admin runs the platform, not another organisation's HR data through the org UI.

  • Org admin

Leave policy, people, holidays, departments, branding, reports, and payroll when the module is on. Admins do not count toward the seat limit.

  • Manager

Team approvals (when your mode allows it), team calendar and reports, plus their own leave and payslips.

  • Employee

Apply for leave, see balances, calendar, Today, notifications, and their own payslips when payroll is enabled.
